I always wondered why there weren’t more final expense sales people in Canada. They seem to be prolific in the US. I was just reading the Ontario Insurance Act and learnt it is illegal for a licensed life insurance agent to directly solicit (by phone or in person) the sale of life insurance with the purpose being to fund any funeral, burial or cremation expense.
And further, when a life insurance agent sells a final expense policy they are required to provide a specific disclaimer explaining to them that you’re not selling licensed services or supplies as defined by the Funeral, Burial and Cremation Services Act, 2002.
Do undertakers have one hell of a political lobby nobody knows about?
